birthday party
by WildTurkey inwe had my little girls first birthday party yesterday, and in my head i knew nothing was wrong with it.
but i was still not comfortable, i still felt like i was doing something wrong, until i looked at my little girl and seen how happy she was, the smile on her face, for the first time in her life so many people was there just for her.
at that point, i knew nothing was wrong with it, once a year a person should be treated that way, helps your self worth.

What films and TV shows couldn't you watch?
by sleepy inwhat films and tv shows couldn't you watch when you were a witness kid?.
i remmember being banded from watching scooby doo, ghostbusters ,e.t., (some british ones)count duckula, rent a ghost, well basicly anything with ghosts in it.. my parents wouldn't watch any films with much swearing in them, especially the f-word.. which is fair enought.but i don't notice swearing so sometimes i recommend a film without realising its got lots of naughty words.. sometimes a very sensitive brother from the hall would come round to visit, and he would be visably shocked if there was any sex or swearing in a tv programme which often made it embarassing when watching tv when he was round.. once when we had some friends round and we got waynes world out on video, a couple of the brothers walked out as they thought it too worldly.

I was never a witness but was in a religion the same. We never had to worry about TV shows. We only watched TV on Saturdays and that was it. This was around 1978-1984(born in 72). Saturday morning was always Bugs and Daffy. Sat. night was always Muppets, CHiPs, Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Once in awhile we would watch ShaNaNa.
I do remember Late Night W/ Johnie Carson was a bad show. We only had three channels. My father lived in Chicago and was not in a religion. He had cable and I couldn't wait to watch shows like Benny Hill, MTV and I think Dr Who. These would have been banned at home also.

by DIM ini'm having very stressful dealings with my parents lately....can anyone please help me or direct me to the right place on the 1995 or 1999 cd-roms about (a) where it tells you to investigate your religion and (b) where they bash other religions.

Sorry to hear that, DIM and DIMette.
Keep in mind that your mother does love you because she thinks she is in Gods organization and you are "leaving" it. Any mother wants what is best for their children. What saddens me is that this may lead to shunning. I have personally seen this within my own family and am sure most of you have to.
It's not so bad to finish second, because the other guy finished second to last. -A.M.
